Discover Fajardo "Las Croabas"
Fajardo is probably the most beautiful little coastal town in Puerto Rico. It is a major boating center and has a wide variety of rentals and charters available for hire. Local centers also offer a variety of water sports and diving excursions on a daily basis as well as scheduled ferries and air services that carry passengers and cargo to Culebra and Vieques.
Fajardo has beautiful beaches that are surrounded by calm, clear waters which are ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving, offshore sailing and more. Fajardo is also home to "Las Cabezas", one of the most important natural areas in Puerto Rico. Las Cabezas, which means "headlands", refers to three headlands that extend into the Atlantic Ocean. It has an impressive representation of seven different ecological systems including beaches, coral reefs, lagoons, dry forests and mangroves and embraces a portion of the island's lush tropical rain forests.
It also has a scientific research center that serves as a home for many endangered species. Visitors can explore the reserve along a network of trails and board-walks. The Island's second oldest lighthouse, El Faro, is located here and offers a magnificent view of El Yunque on a clear day.
Clearly Fajardo is the perfect destination for people with a thirst for water sports and hiking. However if your idea of a perfect holiday is to sip cocktails on the beach then you’ll also find that Fajardo caters to you. The sun kissed Seven Seas beach will meet all your requirements.

A few miles north of Fajardo is this fishing area, where seafood is sold in open-air restaurants along the ocean.
A small park in the middle of town has a lovely waterfront walk, and it's easy to find outfitters for any kind of ocean adventure, from kayaking to sailing trips.
A 316-acre nodule of land on Puerto Rico’s extreme northeast tip, the Las Cabezas de San Juan Reserva Natural ‘El Faro’ protects an historic lighthouse, a bioluminescent bay, rare flora and fauna, lush rainforest, various trails and boardwalks, and an important scientific research center. Despite its diminutive size, the reserve shelters seven – yes seven – different ecological systems, including beaches, lagoons, dry forest, coral reefs and mangroves. Animal species that forage here include big iguanas, fiddler crabs, myriad insects and all kinds of birds. Such condensed biodiversity is typical of Puerto Rico’s compact island status and ‘Las Cabezas’ is highlighted as an integral part of the commonwealth’s vital – but dangerously threatened – northeast ecological corridor.

El Morro Fort, or officially Castillo de San Felipe del Morro, stands guard at the entrance to San Juan harbor as a reminder of a by-gone era when invading countries would attempt sea attacks to take this prized city and harbor.
This beautiful 6-level fort was named in honor of Spain’s King Philip II. The Fort wasn’t initially built as the huge structure that you see today. It has gone through many enlargements and modifications, from the time it was first constructed by Spain through the time that it was occupied by the US Army.
The National Park Service supplies you with a map when you pay your entrance fee. You can use that map, and the descriptions of the different parts of the fort, to do a self-guided tour of sorts.
When you visit El Morro, you can sit in air-conditioned comfort and watch a short movie about the battles and construction of the forts. It runs continuously all day and is shown in English on the hour and ½ hour, and Spanish on the ¼ and ¾ hour.
You can also attend a free 20-30 minute Orientation talk every hour on the hour in English and on the ½ hour in Spanish. These are led by park rangers, and they are very informative and interesting. The rangers will tell you about life in the old days, what it was like to live in the fort, and they’ll be able to answer any questions that you may have.
If you don’t want to watch the movie or listen to a park ranger, you can can use your map and go off and explore the fort on your own. El Morro is a massive structure, with 6 levels that you can visit by using various stairs, ramps and tunnels.
The admission fee is $3.00/person for ages 16 and older, Kids under 15 and under are free. If you plan on visiting both El Morro and San Cristobal forts, opt for the combination ticket that costs $5.00/person. Your National Park Service passes are valid here.
The fort is open to the public 7 days/week from 9:00am until 6:00pm. Closed New Years, Thanksgiving and Christmas days.
